Which Bands Have You Seen Live?

From a discussion on Yen's Graveyard Music thread with some of the whippersnappers on here πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ that the saying on the T-shirt "I may be old, but I got to see the good bands!" applies to me and probably many others on here! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So, which bands have you seen live.....and which were the best and the worst?

The Undertones were the great, caught them twice in the late seventies/early eighties.Β Β  The Clash were the worst, very dissapointing.Β

Without doubt the best was Prince when I saw him at the NEC.Β  The guy was an absolute genius on stage, his guitar playing was hard to believe .

Yes, I think that Prince's guitar playing was really underrated. Have you seen the video of him playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Jeff Lynn and Tom Petty?Β

I saw Blasted Mechanism, you wouldn't know about it. Thing is, it was in the dark period, I was drugged up and very much wasted on vodka and I didn't remember it. Except, Blasted Mechanism is a kind of steam alien punk thing with tentacles coming out their heads, like freeking squid on stage! I had flashback nightmares for ages, waking up trying to figure out why there were octopuses dancing around in foggy weather in my bad dreams! That was a shitty night of which people told me about for a year after. That was the last time I got properly drunk...

Wishbone Ash, Curved Air, Blodwyn Pig, Mick Abrahams Band, Osibisa, Stone the Crows, Deep Purple (MkIII), Elf (with Dio), Graham Parker, Ian Dury, Stranglers, Gillan, Van Der Graaf Generator, Man, Mud, Yes, Black Sabbath, The Who, Focus.....there's more but I can't think of them!

Best I saw......probably Wishbone Ash or Curved Air! Worst....Purple MkIII.

Regret that I missed......Free, Skynyrd, and Bon-era AC/DC.

I had a period where I saw bands regularly. From The Groundhogs in the back room of a pub in Croydon to Led Zeppelin at Knebworth.Β

Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, IronΒ  Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Rush, ELO, Rory Gallagher, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Marillion, Motorhead (several times), Elbow, Joe Bonamassa, The Damned, Dr Feelgood, Gary Moore, Matt Schofield, The Groundhogs and others that I can't remember for the moment!

The best were probably Pink Floyd - The Wall, Elbow at Cambridge Corn Exchange

Worst: Gary Moore - After The War tour and Rush - Roll The Bones tour.

It was the Rush gig at Wembley Arena that put me off going to big venues. I'd seen them twice before and they were brilliant musicians, but the sound at that gig was awful, so I decided that I'd had enough of the big venues!

Regret not seeing Bon Scott era AC/DC (although I did see a really good tribute band that played all that era stuff) and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was due to play in the UK, but was killed before the tour.

Β

I spent a year or more of people telling me of shit I did that night. I came to myself in the morning in my hometown next to someone driving me home (my car being 30km away) and bringing me do my mum's doorstep hanging me from my shoulders, my mum's a doctor so I'm sure that when he told her I had a bad hotdog that night she really believed him. I had a fucking cold shower and a two day throw up / hangover.

Also, that same night, I was so drunk I got delivered to the INEMΒ tent they had at the festival, I was carried in by a couple of guys that only knew my "war name" and my hometown, and got two known visitors, the first one's review was that the whole operation was like an NBA game, while I was sucking down intravenous serum through the back of both hands, they had a team willing to mop up puke within the second, like in an NBA match when the players fall down and smudge sweat on the hardwood floor, somehow this really impressed Caco, my rich world wise friend. Then came the "other friend", he was so wasted he jumped on one of "INEM"s VW Passat's bonnets and wouldn't leave without a signed autograph from Eminem, which sounded the same to him... (INEM is a part of the Portuguese Health System, translated to Institute for National Health Emergencies", not a rapper)

not afraid eminem GIF

That's before I met you all, you all saved me ...Β
